The Loft’s Galactic Web of Wonder
Vanessa Ramos is a poet and former street psychic and magician’s assistant. Hannah Holman is a theater artist with a knack for finding outlandish costumes. Asher Edes is a stargazer who once worked in an astrobiology lab and reads a lot of science fiction.
Inspired by The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a sci-fi cult classic that debuted as a radio series in 1978, this project invites participants to travel along star paths into the Galactic Web that connects us. Travelers can delve into a box of costumes and props to dress in extraterrestrial garb for their journey. Along the way, they will visit planets real and imagined, and ponder the secrets of the universe.
The Loft believes that literature creates understanding, empathy, inspiration, and delight as it helps us navigate our complex realities. Our events bring together writers, performance artists, and readers in celebration of literature, offering writing to hungry new audiences in fresh and exciting ways. Like this Northern Spark project, most Loft events are free and open to the public. Additionally, we hold a range of other programs for writers and readers of all ages and all levels – including learning opportunities, digital resources, grants, and awards.
