Razing Minneapolis—or—The Ghostly Streetcar History Tour

Razing Minneapolis—or—The Ghostly Streetcar History Tour is a mobile installation in the form of a ghostly streetcar, an apparition of the beloved trolley created by Thomas Lowry. Through the windows of the streetcar, vignettes of Minneapolis’s architectural past are re-created in shadow sculpture. From the headlamp of the streetcar, historic architectural silhouettes are projected onto the newer buildings that have taken their place, giving glimpses of the landmarks that once identified Minneapolis but were lost in the name of progress. The Beaux Arts Metropolitan Building, the handsome old Post Office, and the short-lived but lovely Gateway Park Pavilion will be brought back to life in shadow and light, telling stories of our lost Twin Cities.

This is a collaboration between The Flightless Bird Brothers and The Shiny Naughty Collective.
